A gift for the 4th grade teacher

My 4th grade son’s teacher was going to be a Daddy for the first time right as school was letting out. I thought it was the perfect excuse to make a quilt. I am always looking for good reasons to make things;)

I decided on this lovely fabric from Denyse Schmidt. I made a super simple pattern from HST with cream and squares of the printed fabric. It went together in no time at all.

I backed it with some polka dot flannel fabric. I do love to back my quilts with something soft. Particularly if I am using it for a baby or child. My kids go crazy over soft textures.

I did an all over meander in the white and a little bit of a different fmq for the patterned fabric. It washed up like a dream and the roll was just too cute!

  1. I think this is my favorite quilt yet of all the ones I've seen so far on your blog. In fact...it is making me start to think of some other designs with HSTs in a similar vein! Great fabric choices, too!
