We had the option to sign up for a Secret Sewer Swap at the DC Modern Quilt retreat. I’ve only just participated in a bee once. I’ve never participated in a swap before. Of course I signed up. It is just too much fun to pass up.
The first day was two fat quarters. The second day was something small like a pin cushion. The last day was the reveal and something a little bigger, like a tote or something similar.
I received two lovely Denise Schmidt fat quarters in two of my favorite colors. Day two I received a sweet pouch. The thing that kills me most about it is the huge knobs on the top. So adorable. So about this time, I decided my swapper was someone really fancy, with impeccable taste.
The last day I couldn’t believe it. I received this adorable travely organizer.
The big reveal was that my swapper was Heather. Yay me! She is also somewhat of a prolific sewest. I follow her blog and she is always finishing something fabulous. She picks the most lovely fabrics and makes the most lovely things.
I cannot believe all the details she put into my gifts. The front of the organizer is a beautiful star. Inside, she made some really great modifications to the pattern. She changed the sizes of the pockets on the first side. I guess it was supposed to be one flat pocket divided once. Instead, she has three different sized pockets. One of them is even dimensional to allow for a pencil or marking pen. SWEET!
On the other side, she made the pocket with a velcro closure and made it with measuring tape fabric. See, I told you she has great taste. I would love to peek at her fabric stash some day.
Thanks so much Heather! I love it all.
