Henry Glass & Co has a new thing they are doing on their blog, called Desire to Inspire. I signed up to see if I could participate and VIOLA! I was thrilled they chose me for this month.
They sent me a lovely stack of Fishy Fishy fabric from Heather Mulder Peterson’s new line, and I got to play. There were no guidelines or restrictions.
When I saw the zig zag fabric I instantly thought it would be fun to try to make a “Faux Pickle Dish” with it. I made some appliqué curves and went to town.
I actually started with a large four patch of the fishy fabric and the orange. I appliquéd the curved shapes and the white ovals on top.
When I design anything I am making, I always at least put pencil to paper to give me a reference as to what I had in mind. Usually though, I use graph paper, PhotoShop or EQ7. I need the lines to keep me honest. But this time I just scribbled on paper to make the design. It looks pretty right on to my drawing if you ask me.
It was a bit of a challenge because I was sent all the same amount of each fabric. So I carefully measured out each piece and made sure they fit into my idea.
This whole quilt making thing I do, makes me so happy! I spied the quilt today, laying on the couch (just as in the picture) and it just made me smile.
Thanks to Henry Glass for letting me play!
