It is hard to fabric shop online sometimes

Well, it is EASY! And I do so love it. But I find it so hard to tell what the colors are going to look like in my home.

I have a small powder room that I painted a happy yellow. It is hard to get a good picture of it because there are no windows in there and it is small. I think this is fairly accurate. I thought it would be fun to have a grey and yellow Swoon block in there. The Swoon block is fairly big and I thought one lone block would be the perfect size. I ordered this lovely fabric from Swell Fabric and it arrived today. (I loved the way she wrapped the fabric in tissue paper like a little present.) I do so love the Hometown by Sweetwater line.

But when I took it into my bathroom, the colors seemed more country than I wanted. I know Sweetwater fabrics have that cozy feel to them, but I’m not sure about the color in my room now? I think I need more pop in that small space. Something bright and happy.

I’ve been looking at every group of grey and yellow I see and I just don’t know. I think the Joel Dewberry Aviary 2 in Granite may be a better match for what I am looking for?

It is so hard to tell online. I wish I could find the modern fabrics in local quilt shops. There, I said it!

This weekend as I was waiting for my fabric for my Swoon block to arrive, I played a little bit with some damask fabric for Valentine’s day. It was a lazy weekend and I had fun playing. I appliqued some red hearts in the middle, but need to sandwich and finish it off.

And because this is a rambling post anyway, I cut my hair yesterday. My boys are growing their hair out, but they looked so raggedy that we took them to the mall for some cleaning up. I decided to cut off a few inches too.

I must be in a yellow mood lately;)
